It was a very one sided two nil win for Hornchurch, who could have run into double figures with more steadiness in front of goal. Two goals from Shane Oakley, the first a shot which went underneath the keeper, the second an excellent first time volley, did not do justice to the overall superiority of the home side. Shane Oakley could have scored six, with at least four shots skimming the post, whilst a rocket shot from Joe Staunton came back off the post, and another drive rebounded off the bar. Amos Foyewa twice went close, ALex Ievoli's first touch of the ball was a free kick which was well saved by the keeper, whilst Grant Lee only had two shots to save at the other end.

Keith Martin returned to an Urchins line up, having previously played six times in 2004/05, and was behind many of the home moves, whilst David Lee made a return from injury, and Shahed Ahmed also appeared, having played in the pre-season matches. A good and solid performance all round, the only minus point being the number of missed chances.

And quote of the night goes to the linesman, when a Leyton player disputed a throw in - 'you kicked it off, and the law says that if you kick it off, the other team gets the throw. It's the law, you know'.
