THURROCK 1 HORNCHURCH 3
Hornchurch dominated the first half and could have taken the lead on several occasions. Tambeson Eyong, Ross Wall and Frankie Williams all went close, and a Williams shot hit the bar, but it was the home side who went in front with their first shot of the match when TERRY DOYLE fired the ball over Peter Loveday from thirty yards out.
Frankie Williams made ground on the left and sent over a low cross which Dave Wooton grabbed at the feet of Ross Wall , and a free kick from Tommy Black drifted wide of the far post. Wooton then saved from Williams, and Wotton made a good save from Eyong after Black had created the opening. Close to half time Williams broke through, chipped the keeper and the ball dropped onto the roof of the net.
The second half was similar to the first, with Hornchurch having the majority of the play, and they levelled the score when Eyong started a move in midfield, and played the ball out to Black on the left. Black sent the ball into the middle for ROSS WALL to score from close range.
With shots coming in from all angles home keepr Wooton had a lot to do, but a packed defence could not keep out the second goal, which came from a solo run by TAMBESON EYONG who scored with a low drive from a very narrow angle. With Hornchurch threatening to score with every move, the third goal came after a Ross Wall shot had cannoned off a defender and TOMMY BLACK neatly chipped the ball over the keeper. |
